A Change from the Norm

The Welsh Premier League fixtures are due to be released in the next few days, however, you won't be looking at many teams playing at 2:30pm on a Saturday - the traditional kick off time for WPL teams.

Instead, you could be looking at Friday night fixtures or Sunday afternoon times as the WPL try to reverse a 9% fall in attendances last season.

As a result, clubs have been asked to specify when they would like to play their games.

Haverfordwest County are set to go for Friday night as their first choice, while league champions Total Network Solutions have asked for two o'clock
kick-offs on Sunday afternoons.

John Deakin, League secretary, has attempted to accommodate the wishes of the clubs in his fixture planning, which has been completed and sent to the clubs.

Deakin has also made a point of avoiding fixture clashes with other major sporting events, particularly the Welsh rugby side's Six Nations games.
