Buckley Manager Scoops Cymru Alliance Award

More good news for Buckley Town, winners of the Cymru Alliance league last season as manager Dave 'Pixie' Taylor picked up the Manager of the Season award at the Cymru Alliance League's annual general meeting in Colwyn Bay.

The Flintshire side were also honoured with a commemorative plaque in acknowledgment of winning the title.

Following the departure of Simon Sedgwick at the end of last season Buckley set about just rebuilding a squad reduced to the bare bones.

Dean Davies, webmaster of the club’s website said: “We knew a few players would leave and go with him to his new club, plus we knew of a few players that were looking for new challenges.

“When Dave Taylor and Mike Lewis were named as the management team for 2004/05 season we had only about 13 players left from the original squad. Then we lost a few more of them, and
Taylor felt that some were not up to standard so they went too.”

Buckley’s main ambition for the season was just to “build a strong team for the future and not get relegated”, an ambition far succeeded by winning the league with a seven point cushion over second place team Glantraeth.
