Crows to Fight Off Vultures

Cwmbran Town boss Brian Coyne has warned any "vultures" planning on swooping on his talented young squad.

It is rumoured that seven off his squad have been tapped-up, which would constitute a breach of Welsh Premier League rules, which states that clubs must write for permission to speak to a player under a seven-day notice agreement, however Coyne believes that some managers are ignoring these rules and approaching players directly.

" The vultures have been circling again," Coyne said

"It happens every season. You get these managers who come up through the leagues, are handed a chequebook, and their behaviour is completely unprofessional.

"I know for a fact that seven of my players have been approached directly and that is not only against league rules, but totally disrespectful.

"These are the guys who are plotting behind your back and then are all smiles with you during the season. I won't be entertaining it."

He added: "It is just as well that all of our players want to stay at Cwmbran. They have all signed up for next season and that shows tremendous commitment.

"We are all in it together and these cowboys can keep their chequebooks closed.

"All of the lads from last season have committed to the club for next term and we are due to start pre-season training the first week in July. We have to remain focussed on the playing side and improve on last season."

Despite having problems off the field with the running of the club and lack of volunteers, Cwmbran have a fantastic youth programme in place, which is producing some great players for the youth and senior sides.
