Afan Lido must win tomorrow against NEWI Cefn Druids at Plaskynaston Lane to have any chance of surviving after today's 4-2 defeat against Connah's Quay leaves them level on points with Airbus UK and just two points ahead of the bottom placed team, who are, the Druids.
Defeat tomorrow against the Druids would leave them in the relation zone with one game to play - against Llanelli next week, while the Druids and Airbus will have two to play.
Lido were fined £100 and deducted 3 points after they fielded Leigh Shrimpton in the game with Airbus in March despite the defender being banned for a sending off in a Sunday League game.
Despite claiming they knew nothing about Shrimpton's ban, the penalty was imposed, and will likely be appealed by the club after the FAW allowed them 10 days to appeal following the hearing in Llandrindod Wells on Wednesday, however, the club PR officer has said the club will wait for the official reason for the penalty from the Commission before taking any action.
It has come to light that Shrimpton, 23, gave a false name in his sending off during a Sunday League game for Red Lion, unknown to his contracted club -
Subsequently, it is unlikely that Shrimpton will appear for the Premier League club again, whether the penalty imposed on the club is reversed or not, and talk from those associated with the club say that Shirmpton is no longer welcome at Lido's stadium following his actions, which could result in the club being relegated from the Welsh Premier League at the end of the season.
"Everyone connected to the club is fuming with him," said a source.
"If it had been a rookie player, then you could understand. But Shrimpton is an experienced player who must have been aware that something like this was on the cards.
" Some people don't want him around here anymore. He may never play for the club again."
Shrimpton has played 61 full games for Afan Lido and 17 subs' appearances, scoring 3 goals during that time.
