Champions League holders Liverpool are seeded in the first qualifying round of this season's Champions League.
Despite only finishing fifth last season, effectively ruling them out of a place in the Champions League, Liverpool were granted entry into the competition by UEFA.
They could now face Welsh Premier League champions Total Network Solutions in the qualifiers, which start on 12 and 13 July.
TNS had offered to play Liverpool in a one-off lucrative play-off for their Champions League place, however, this idea was rejected by the FAW who said that the Champions League place would go to Rhyl if TNS did not want to compete in the competition.
They face the prospect now of playing Liverpool anyway, this time over two legs.
Despite being allowed in the competition, Liverpool are believed to be unhappy at having to play in the first round qualifiers subsequently having cancel a money-spinning tour in Japan.
The draw will be made tomorrow in Geneva,
