Local car dealer Neville Dickens hopes of buying Wrexham Football Club have been dashed as owner Alex Hamilton rejects the former Director’s bid.
Dickens’ undisclosed bid is less than that of a rival party who
Mr Dickens said: "We have had a meeting with Mr Hamilton and he has indicated that he has had a higher offer from another interested party with local connections who want to demolish the Racecourse and redevelop the whole site.
"Our offer falls short of this, but I'm hoping that we can come up with something that would be nearer to his expectations.
"I'm hoping we'll be in a position to go with some sort of offer in the next ten days," he said.
"We are looking for more backers to come in. We're doing everything we can to try to save the football club," he added.
Mr Dickens has land adjacent to the Racecourse site and would likely be bought out should an outsider purchase the Racecourse.
Wrexham’s torrid time could be doubled later, following news of the rejection of Dickens’ bid with relegation from League One, should Wrexham fail to defeat Brentford at the Racecourse Ground tonight.
