Darren Barnard has agreed a new contract to stay at Conference side Aldershot.

The former Barnsley, Bristol City and Grimsby full-back has agreed a new 12-month deal at the Recreation Ground.

Barnard, 33, a former Wales international started 38 games for the Shots last season, scoring seven times as Terry Brown's side reached the play-off final.

Barnard was involved in Wales Semi-Pro side who won one of three games in the Home Nations Championship in Cork last month.

Barnard had a great first season at Aldershot and became a crowd favourite. However, the left back will miss the opening two games of the season through suspension following the referee's report after the play off semi-final match at Carlisle.
