Clear Out at Ninian Park?

Cardiff City boss Lennie Lawrence this week admitted he has a difficult task in trying to slash his side’s demanding wage bill for next season’s Championship campaign where the club will be looking to avoid another relegation battle.

Lawrence conceded. "We've got to cut the wage bill, that's no big secret.

"It doesn't mean to say the ones out of contract will be going and doesn't mean that everyone in contract is staying.

"We have got to keep ourselves competitive and give ourselves a chance of doing something other than fighting a relegation battle next season."

Earlier this year Cardiff City sold captain Graeme Kavanagh to Wigan Athletic to cut the wage bill and accrue some revenue for the debt-ridden club.

That follows the sale of top goalscorer Rob Earnshaw last season to West Bromwich Albion, City have since failed to score regularly, resulting in a poor finishing position in the Championship.

Wales international Danny Gabbidon could be the next high profile player to leave Ninian Park with interest already emerging from West Ham United and some Premiership clubs.
