Newport County have signed 18-year old striker Matt Green from Cirencester.
Green, a former England U-15 international, has been promised first team football by Cornforth.
County's manager said: "I think he has a lot of potential and hopefully he can do well for us."
"He is quick and strong and we need people to get goals, but I am still looking for another striker and an experienced midfielder."
Cornforth is still looking for new talent, as he tries to boost his squad ahead of the new season, one method being a talent search with adverts for players on the club's official website for trial matches in July.
He added: "We are working on a limited budget so we have to be inventive.
"Its not a case of bring your boots and play because we are collecting people's CVs first. If we feel they are strong enough they will be invited."
Any players interesting in a trial at Newport County can send their CVs to: John Cornforth, Newport County AFC, Newport Stadium, Stadium Way, Newport, South Wales NP19 4PT or fax it to 01633 666107.
