Fulham goalkeeper Mark Crossley has revealed he is determined to make the No 1 jersey his own despite Chris Coleman' signing of Czech international Jaroslav Drobny.
Crossley spent much of last season frustrated at the lack of first team football behind Dutch international Edwin van der Sar, however, his big move to Premiership giants Manchester United has made Crossley reconsider his future with Fulham.
Crossley was set for a season-ling loan spell away from the club in a bid to get regular football, however, van der Sar's move means the 36-year old has a chance to prove to Coleman that he is the man for the No 1 jersey.
Crossley will battle Drobny for said jersey and the Wales veteran said:
"I spoke to the manager at the end of the season and we were talking about a year's loan. The move was possibly going to come off with a few Championship clubs but I would have still been contracted to Fulham.
"Obviously that's changed now Edwin's gone. The opportunity is there for me and Jaroslav so I'm sure we'll start off on an even keel. Whoever performs in pre-season will get the shirt at the start of the season and I'm hoping that's going to be myself."
