Davies Wants to Be Success at Everton

Everton and Wales winger Simon Davies is hoping to follow in the footsteps of a long line of successful Welshmen at Goodison Park.

Everton has a strong connection with Wales with Welshmen having been prominent figures at the Merseyside club since the days of T.G. Jones.

In recent times, Barry Horne, Kevin Ratcliffe and Neville Southall have all been fans' favourites at the club.

Davies said: There has been a long history of Everton teams with a Welsh connection and it's good that I can continue that.

"I used to watch Wales when I was younger. Kevin Ratcliffe and Neville Southall were legends and they played for Everton.

"It's nice to follow on in their footsteps and if I can do half as well as then I'll be alright.

The 25-year old international is looking forward to playing at Everton, following his move from Spurs this summer.

"I know a few Everton fans back in Wales," Davies added. "When I went to Tottenham they said I should have joined Everton. It's ironic how it's worked out.

"Next time I go home I'm sure they'll be trying to buy me a few drinks!

"It's an honour for me to be at the club and hopefully it will work out well."

Simon Davies was speaking to Everton's club website.
