Full Time in this Weekend's EFL Games

Wrexham suffered their first defeat in seven games at the KC Stadium as they fell to high-flying Hull City in a closely fought game in League One which was their first win in seven games.

Australian forward Danny Allsopp, a former Wrexham player, struck late in the first half as he pounced on a loose ball as Wrexham's on loan goalkeeper Ben Foster failed to deal with a Damien Delaney header.

Wrexham's side was a shadow of that which secured an emphatic midweek win over Oldham in the LDV Vans Nortehrn Final, with six players falling to a flu bug sweeping the Wrexham camp.

Talismanic winger Carlos Edwards travelled but was not fit to play in freezing Hull and joined Wales Inetrnational Steve Roberts,

Hull doubled their advantage early in the second half as Allsopp struck again, this time putting away a knockdown from Stuart Elliott.

Wrexham, who are 90 minutes away from a trip to the Millennium Stadium in the LDV Vans Trophy, battled back, and an inspired substitution by Denis Smith saw Hector Sam fire past Boaz Myhill to set up a tense final 15 minutes.

Chris Armstrong had was denied an equalising goal and Hull held on to their lead, to leave Wrexham in further trouble in the relegation zone and further their own chances of making the rise to the Championship.

Meanwhile at the Vetch, promotion chasing Swansea City were held by a Grimsby side languishing in the bottom half of League Two leaving Swansea without a win in four games.

Grimsby launched waves of attack on the Swansea goal and it was not until midway through the first half that the South Wales side forged a clear opening, but Paul Connor's shot on the turn was comfortably dealt with by Anthony Williams in the Grimsby goal.

In a very boring first half, relief came at the whistle for the interval with hope of a better game in the second half, however, the hopes of 7,000 freezing fans were dashed as the second half became in same fashion as the first with the Mariners having the better play and several chances to break the deadlock.

Swansea had to be content with a point despite throwing on Lee Thorpe and Kevin McLeod in a chance to snatch a victory neithr team really deserved.

With Swansea dropping points continually in February their promotion chances have been seriously dented as the chasing pack claw back points every week.
