Gabbidon to Leave Bluebirds?

Cardiff City and Wales defender Danny Gabbidon does not know if he will still be a Cardiff City player at the beginning of next season.

As the Bluebirds look to clear debts of around £30m, the 25-year old knows he could be sold to the highest bidder if the club receives an offer they can’t turn down.

Gabbidon has three years left at Ninian Park and admitted: "Obviously the club's not in the best of shapes at the moment.

"I'm sure a few things will happen in the summer to sort that out, but who knows where I'll be?"

Owner Sam Hammam’s dream was to get Cardiff City into the Premiership, but that has come at a major price, with the club having to sell its top assets to raise funds needed to keep the club running. With the problem of the new stadium continually facing problems, the cash-flow problem at Cardiff is serious.

Last year City’s top goalscorer Rob Earnshaw was the first major as he joined Premiership strugglers West Bromwich Albion for £3m for the Wales striker.

The next mhigh profile player to leave south Wales was club captain Graham Kavanagh was sold to rivals Wigan for a mere £400,000 just two months ago – Kavanagh will now be playing in the Premiership with Wigan after Paul Jewell’s men won promotion last weekend.

Kavanagh's departure was a timely one. Coming soon after revelations of the scale of the club’s financial problems as the club failed to honour it’s unmanageable £750,000 monthly wage bill.

To make matters worse for Cardiff, they lose Australian Tony Vidmar to Dutch side NAC Breda in the summer, with Vidmar looking for more of a challenge against Ajax and others than another season playing against the might of Crewe Alexandra and Hull City.

Gabbidon, however, is happy at Ninian Park and has no intentions of finding another team although the matter may be out of his hands. .

“I've been very happy with my time at Cardiff. I've had some great memories and I can't thank the club enough.

"The situation's not good at the moment but hopefully that can improve.

"We'll have to see what happens. It's probably out of my hands so we'll wait and see."
