Swansea City have said they will not make a complaint over the arrest of goalkeeper Willy Gueret as he celebrated the club's promotion at Bury’s Gigg Lane on Saturday.

The Frenchman was arrested by police by Greater Manchester Police following Swansea's 1-0 on Saturday as Gueret celebrated on top of the glass dugout.

The Jacks' celebrations were put on hold while Gueret was held in a Bury police station and it was believed that the club would be considering a complaint to police force.

However Swansea manager Kenny Jackett said today: "It won't go any further."

Team mates, staff and fans were amazed as the goalkeeper was led away from Bury's Gigg Lane ground in handcuffs following his arrest.

Gueret was arrested for a “public order offence” and left Bury police station having paid an £80 fixed penalty fine.

Jackett said that after the final whistle the team “wanted to get back outside to really celebrate with our fans.

"At some stage we got up into an area which was like the directors' box and things started to get a bit frantic.

"I think the police and stewards were worried about the safety aspect of the whole thing and Willy got caught up in an incident with a policeman and had a little bit of a falling out.

"They took him down the police station and let him cool off.

"We took the bus down there at about 1900 BST and I'm glad to say that he came back to south Wales with us."

Jackett also revealed that the club would not be making a complaint over the incident: "It won't go any further. The police were very good once everything had settled down and we had actually got away from the ground.

"Travelling back from Manchester on the coach on the way back, everybody had to come to the front of the coach and sing a song on the microphone.

"Willie sang Please Release Me."

The delighted Swansea boss added that he was proud of his players for their efforts in securing promotion from the League Two having almost gone out of the Football League in 2003.

In a turn around of fortunes the south Wales club will start next season in League One, with a brand new 20,000 stadium at Morfa.
