Jones Asks for Patience

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones has told fans to be patient as they await new signings at Ninian Park with the former Southampton and Wolves manager having to wait himself to sign players due to the financial sitaution at the Championship club..

Jones is well into his first week in charge at Cardiff and knows one of the problems he faces is bringing new faces to Ninian Park.

The 48-year old said: "It's a frustrating time for you as a manager and it's frustrating for supporters as they want to know who's coming in and who's going out.

"If everything ran smoothly we'd all be very happy," he told the club website.

It is already common knowledge that players must be sold before new players can be signed with the club's crippling wage bill one of the major problems facing Jones.

The priority is to offload some the club's high earners and Danny Gabbidon and Peter Thorne could be the first out the door, as interest emerges for both.

Jones has revealed that there will be no moves for players until he can asses the state of the transfer market and the situation at Ninian Park.

"We're all looking for the same players and sometimes teams will hang on to players to see what they can bring in before they move people out," said Jones.

"It normally gets frantic a few weeks before the season starts - certainly this season because there's a deadline for the division which can either help or hinder you."

Sheffield United have expressed interest in Peter Thorne, while a host of clubs are interested in Gabbidon, although no formal bids have been made for either player.
