New Cardiff City boss Dave Jones has told club owner Sam Hammam to stay out of his business.
Hammam is well known as "hands-on" owner on match days in the dug out and dressing room but Joneshas already made clear that he won't tolerate any interfering when it comes to team affairs and has asked Hammam not to involve himself in Jones' work
It is understood that former boss Lennie Lawrence had no option to block Hammam's wishes and some people have gone as far as suggesting Hammam could have influenced team selections.
Jones said: "The football side of things is mine alone.
"I wasn't aware that anyone else picked the team but as far as I know I'll do the picking.
"I don't see there being a problem and we never actually brought it up in our discussions."
Jones has already made his intensions clear since he took over, with several players expected to be sold to clear some of the unmanageable wage bill at the club, which should then free up some money to bring new players into the club, with Wrexham's Basque striker Juan Ugarte still a top target for the club.
Ugarte last week expressed an interest in a move to a Championship club, and made specific reference to Cardiff, while rumours are also suggesting Jason Dodd could move to south Wales, with Jones' former Southampton captain available on a free.
Jones added: "I've always got people in mind but whether I can get those people is a different thing," he said.
"What I have to do is identify the players I want and with the help of Sam and Peter Ridsdale try then to get them into the club."
Cardiff's current crop of players only just survived the relegation drop to League One last season with a lack of consistency up front.
