Lawrence Resigns at Cardiff

City have announced they are to replace manager Lennie Lawrence, however, he will not leave the club and willl take on a consultancy role at the club for at least six months.


Lawrence
replaced Alan Cork in February 2002 and guided the south Wales club into the first division.


Lawrence said: "I have enjoyed the last three-and-a-half years at Cardiff and wish the club all the best."


Speaking on the club's website, owner Sam Hammam said: "Lennie has shown me and the club tremendous loyalty throughout his time.


"He has always conducted himself with extreme dignity and composure in success and adversity.

"In my nearly 30 years in football, Lennie stands out as the one true gentleman in the manner he has conducted himself working for me at Cardiff City."


Dave Jones has been linked with the Cardiff job amid speculation over the weekend that Lawrence would not be manager for much longer.
