Lifeline for Croft

Long-term injury victim Gary Croft will have a chance to resurrect his career, with Dave Jones set to let the former Ipswich player prove his fitness.

Croft was not offered a new contract at Ninian Park last season, with former boss Lennie Lawrence saying there might be a contract for him.

That, too, is the view of new Cardiff City manager with Jones honouring the promise, allowing Croft to join the squad for pre-season training.

Jones said: "There's an opportunity for him to come in, show his worth, get fit and then I can work from there."

Croft played just once last season before an unfortunate training ground incident led to major knee surgery.
