Mixed Emotions at Wrexham

Following the postponement of Wrexham's game with promotion-chasing Brentford on Tuesday, Dragons assistant manager Kevin Russell admitted that the LDV Vans Trophy winners had mixed emotions.

"We were disappointed, we were geared up for it and now the preparations are out of the window," he said.

"But the lads have been a bit leg-weary recently and this will give us extra time. The end of season will be crowded and we'll have to cut training down."

There have been some exciting times for the Welsh side after their exploits in Cardiff - the LDV Vans trophy at the Racecourse on Saturday - and a takeover still on the cards, however, Russell says that the players must keep their focus on Saturday's visit of league leaders Luton, having secured promotion and bringing an army of fans along for the ride.

"We have to win on Saturday now if we are to put other teams under pressure," said the relegation-threatened coach, whose side lie eight points from safety but with two games in hand over their rivals."

Wrexham are eight points from safety in League One, but have two games in hand over their relegation rivals.
