Aston Villa manager David O'Leary has admitted he would love to sign Newcastle United striker Craig Bellamy, however, he will not make a move for the 25-year old until after next weekend’s Scottish Cup final.
Bellamy is on loan at Celtic until the summer, who it is believed have first option on taking Bellamy on a permanent deal. However, should Celtic fail to meet Newcastle’s asking price, Villa along with Everton, Birmingham City and Blackburn Rovers are waiting in the wing in the race to sign Newcastle United’s player of the year.
O'Leary told official club website: "I'd love to have a player like Craig Bellamy at Villa, but nothing can happen on that at the moment.
"Nothing can happen with Craig until after that.
"We need to know the wages he wants and everything else, so we'll have to wait and see."
O’Leary added: "I'd love to see more players coming into the club. We've done well this week to bring in Aaron Hughes and Patrik Berger and the chairman is working hard and doing his best to bring more new faces in."
