Savage Continues Fued with Bruce

Blackburn star Robbie Savage has escalated his feud with Birmingham boss Steve Bruce by reminding him that he has failed to replace him at St Andrews since his transfer in January.

Savage made it clear he wanted to leave Birmingham to move closer to his parents in Wrexham, however, was seeking a move to Blackburn which by a couple miles is actually further away from north Wales than Birmingham.

A falling out with the team ensued and Savage was forced to train alone and snubbed by the club who had nothing to do with the former Wales international.

Savage angered Bruce and others at Birmingham with his actions in engineering a transfer to Ewood Park, and Savage has since also fell out Wales boss John Toshack and announced his international retirement after Tosh left him out of the squad to face Austria in Match.

Savage was prevented from playing in Blackburn's game with Birmingham last month and the controversial midfielder has now accused Birmingham of inventing security concerns in a bid to prevent him appearing in the tie, and again taunted formr boss Bruce by saying he was irreplaceable.

Savage accused: "Steve Bruce and the club said it was for security reasons but that's rubbish.

"They just didn't want me going back and beating them.

"How can they plead security when Wayne Rooney went back to Everton and Harry Redknapp to Portsmouth - that doesn't make sense.

"They haven't properly replaced me and I'm not sure they ever will.

"I was a great player for that club for two years."

The 30-year-old former Leicester City player is still upset for forcing him to train with his children after completely snubbing the midfielder following the revelations that Savage was secretly sorting a deal to move to Rovers.

Savage has revealed that Mark Hughes was the reason Savage went to Blackburn as he accused Bruce of deliberate persecution.

Many fans see Bruce as a possible successor to Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford, however, Savage has revealed that Mark Hughes is more likely to be heir to the Manchester United throne than Bruce.

"I'm not sure I'll ever forgive Steve Bruce for that," Savage continued.

"I still believe the match was organised especially for my humiliation, it was the worst moment of the most terrible season of my life.

"Mark Hughes has no problems with me at all - the man's perfect for me.

"It was all about Mark Hughes, had he been there and wanted me when contract talks started I'd have left, but that wasn't the case, he was manager of Wales.

"But when he left to manage Rovers and came in for me that was it - I wanted to play for him.

"He has a long way to go with Rovers but when the time comes for Sir Alex Ferguson to retire he's the natural choice as the next Manchester United manager.

"I guess people will be putting Steve Bruce in for the job but for me Mark's the man.

"He took this club from a position of real peril to eight points clear of relegation."

Savage will begin his first full season with Blackburn in August, fully concetrated on bettering their position in the league this season following his retirement from international football with Wales.
