Craig Bellamy picked up his first piece of silverware yestrday with a stirling performance at Hamden Park, which could have been his last game for the deposed Scottish champions.

The game was also manager Martin O'Neill's last game in charge as he takes a break for football after five years at the Glasgow club.

Wales international forward Bellamy was outstanding throughout the game, earning both the freekick that led to the only goal of the game, and the second half penalty which was then missed by Chris Sutton, however, with several Premiership clubs in England able to meet Newcastle United's asking price for Bellamy, he could have played his in a successful four month loan spell.

While Celtic fans will be hoping they can keep him in Scotland, anyone who witnessed Bellamy's display yesterday will know thta he is too good for the Scottish leagues and a move back to England would be the best move for the former Coventry man.

So far Aston Villa, Birmingham City, Everton and Blackburn Rovers have expressed an interest in signing Newcastle United's player of the year, with Villa claiming to have a deal agreed with United chairman Freddie Shepherd, while Birmingham agreed a deal for Bellamy Cardiff-born 25-year old in January.

Bellamy was constantly a threat, leaving defenders completely bewildered several times during the game.

"This means a hell of a lot to me," said Bellamy afterwards.

"Last week was so disappointing because we threw it away and that really hurt.

"But we have bounced back to win this.

"I don't know what is happening - I just want to get this out of the way."

Bellamy only made 15 appearances for Celtic during his four months at Parkhead, however, he helped himself to 9 goals and set up many more, much to the delight of fans, with some hailing Bellamy as their new Henrik Larsson.
