Wrexham manager Denis Smith's reward for sticking with the troubled side will be a new contract from the club's administrators.
While Smith was unable to prevent the north
Smith, against all the odds, however, guided the Dragons to their first major trophy on an amazing LDV Vans trophy run, culminating in 21,000 Wrexham fans cheering on their side's 2-0 win in the final against Southend at the Millennium Stadium.
Smith will meet with administrator David Acland on Friday to further discuss their plans for next season as Smith looks to assemble a squad for the start of the season.
As well as players, the talks will also be about Smith's future with the club as well as that of his coaching staff.
With no sale of the club looking likely in the imminent future, Acland of Begbies Traynor, is believed to want to concentrate on the sale of the club, leaving much of the footballing matters to staff at the Racecourse.
Two Wrexham players have already decided to leave the club, while the future of seven others, including talismanic striker Juan Ugarte, are uncertain, with the players having until June 21 to accept the new deals offered by Smith.
Smith may have better luck in persuading players to stay when his own future with the club is secure.
It is expected that Neville Dickens will be at the meeting. Mr Dickens was a director of the club in the 80s and is the Wrexham Supporters' Trust's choice to buy the club. Having already had a bid rejected by owner Alex Hamilton, Mr Dickens is believed to be considering his options before making a renewed offer.
When questioned, Acland refused to confirm the length of the contract Smith would be offered, but said: "It is all about what he is prepared to take and what we can offer."
Acland also admitted that he hoped a deal to sell the club to Dickens could still be concluded but added: "They are still doing their numbers and their analysis."
