Sports Minister to Help Cambridge Survive

The Government's sports minister Richard Caborn yesterday stepped in to try to prevent Cambridge going into liquidation.

The club went into administration after being relegated from the Football League last season.

And as talks over a £500,000 debt to their biggest creditor, the Inland Revenue, broke down leaving Cambridge's future uncertain.

Mr Caborn is to speak to ministerial colleagues to see if an agreement can be reached. "It would be tragic if Cambridge folded," he said.
