Swansea Record Healthy Profit in 2004

Following a successful year on-the-field, Swansea City have announced that the club made a net profit of £137,581 for the financial year which ended on 31 May 2004.

As well as a promotion chasing campaign in League Two, the Swans also enjoyed a good run in the FA Cup reaching the last 16 before going out against Reading in extra time. Consequently, the club’s turnover was increased by over £1m through prize money, season ticket sales, gate receipts and merchandising, as well as no major expenditure from the current Board that was not required.

The news is fantastic for the south Wales club, who were in financial trouble the previous year, narrowly avoiding relegation to the Football Conference, and with the club due to move to a new state-of-the-art 20,000 capacity stadium this summer, things are looking up for Swansea for the coming season.
