Swansea striker James Thomas is confident he will be fit for pre-season training on 1 July and aims to win a new Swansea contract.

The 26-year old has been out of action since last year after three surgeries on a persistent knee injury.

"I am hoping to be ready to go straight back into training when all the lads come back," Thomas said

"Then I have a month to prove myself to the manager to try to get a new contract."

Thomas saved Swansea from relegation to the Football Conference on the last day of the 2002/03 season with a hat-trick against Hull.

Thomas, however, has yet to show current manager Kenny Jackett just what he can do following as a result of his extended absence from the game

"He hasn't seen what I can do but I am hoping to change that when everybody starts training again," Thomas added.
