Thorne Gets One Over Former Club

Cardiff striker Peter Thorne praised the spirit of his team-mates, as they responded to Stoke’s equaliser yesterday, going on to win 3-1.

Thorne was involved in all three goals - setting up both Cameron Jerome's goals and then scoring a match winning penalty – his 50th goal for the club – as the Bluebirds edged further away from the relegation zone.

On Saturday, Cardiff took the lead at Plymouth but allowed the home side to get back in the game, conceding an equalizing goal in the process, and disappointed to leave Home Park with a 1-1 draw for their troubles.

"It really was a cracking win to come here and bounce back from not beating Plymouth on Saturday," Thorne said.

"We showed strength of character to get the three points we desperately need."

"We started well, got the goal and it really was a shame to let them back in it," Thorne said.

"But we were the better team and we deserved the points.

"The win was massive, it really was massive, and when I looked around the changing room I could see that everyone was ready for this - there was a spring in the step and everybody was up for it."
