League Two club Wrexham have been told they can assemble a squad of 20 professional players for the new season beginning in August.

The north Wales side are still in administration and face losing more of their key players with the future of several names at the club undecided, including top scorer last season, Juan Ugarte, who is mulling over a move to the Championship.

However, manager Denis Smith is already recruiting for the new season with Sunderland and Northern Ireland keeper joining the club in the summer, along with other names, possibly from the Championship, that Smith is lining up.

Club secretary Geraint Parry said: "Until the transfer window closes, we can sign up to 20 players of a professional standing."

If necessary the football league may also give further special dispensation to pay small fees should they be needed.
