Wrexham Future Still Unclear

Former councilor Andy Smith’s bid for struggling League One club Wrexham has still not gone through after as reports come out that he has failed to secure a deal.

The property developer who has revealed future plans for the club and their Racecourse Ground site and surrounds maintains he is fully committed to buying the club, still in administration despite his exclusivity deal expiring on Monday.

Controversial owner Alex Hamilton has now revealed he is open to offers from anyone interested in buying his 78% stake in Wrexham and the club's assets – which includes the freehold of the Racecourse.

At one point Hamilton boasted that some four separate parties were in negotiations with him, however, only Smith was making moves to secure the buy-out, leading to an exclusivity deal being struck.

However, as Smith works to finalise arrangements Hamilton has revealed he will again listen to any offers, on theadvice of the club’s administrators.

Since his original claim, Hamilton has now made it known there are at least six parties - including Smith - interested in buying the League One outfit.

As Wrexham battle to save the club off the field, the players must now try and ensure that their League One future is saved on the field as they go into a six-pointer with fellow strugglers MK Dons at the Racecourse on Saturday.

Wrexham are potentially some eight points away from safety, and with vital points being dropped regularly with a series of draws, the players desperately need a win if they are to have any hope of playing in League One next year.
