Wrexham to March Through Town

Yet another rally will march through the streets of Wrexham on Saturday following the club’s relegation to League Two on Tuesday.

Despite a 10-point penalty imposed on the club in December for entering administration the North Wales club battled bravely but have narrowly failed to avoid the drop.

Thousands of Wrexham football fans are being urged to march through the town on Saturday, ahead of what could be the club's last game at the Racecourse against Huddersfield Town.

Members of Wrexham Supporters' Trust want fans to join their mass rally on Saturday to further highlight the club's plight and debt of around £4m.

Local car dealer and former club director Neville Dickens has been in talks with Mr Hamilton about a takeover, but had been told his offer was less than that of a “rival” party, who wanted to demolish and redevelop the Racecourse Ground – which had been Mr Hamilton’s plans from day one.

Mr Dickens has appealed for more backers to help his bid to save the club.

Wrexham Supporters' Trust is in support of Mr Dickens taking control of the club and “we're hoping that Mr Hamilton will agree to sell to him so that football can be retained at the Racecourse," said WST chairman Bruce Clapton.

"In the meantime, we want as many fans as possible to turn out on Saturday and join the march.

"There's a lot of bad feeling around and we want to deflect that by putting on a show of support which will celebrate Wrexham's past and our commitment to its future, not only for next season, but for many years to come. It won't be a protest march, it will be something much more positive."

Contrary to popular belief it is now believed Wrexham do not have a deadline to guarantee they can fulfil next season’s fixtures, with an announcement due from the Football League today or tomorrow on the matter to reassure concerned fans.
