Wrexham captain Darren Ferguson is aiming to keep Wrexham's cup success rolling by beating Bangor City in the FAW Premier Cup semi-finals on Wednesday night at Farrar Road.

Wrexham will be in jubilant mood with their weekend’s LDV Vans Trophy victory behind them, but must be cautious not to slip up at this stage in the competition.

"We want to win it and get through to the final - you want to win any cup you enter," said Ferguson.

"Since I've been here we've got a really good record in the FAW Premier Cup and we want to keep that going."

Wrexham are the defending champions in the competition, and have won the trophy five times from a possible seven in the cup’s history.

Ferguson has warned that they will not be taking Bangor lightly despite their cup win at the weekend – Bangor knocked Cardiff out in the quarter finals.

"It's going to be a difficult game, but as long as our attitude is right then that's half the battle," Ferguson added.

"Ability-wise we're a better team than Bangor, that's obvious, but if we go there just thinking we have to turn up then it could be a shock.

"The manager makes sure we take these matches seriously, and there's quite a lot of money for the club if we win.

"They'll come at us early and give it a right good, get wired in, but if we get through the early period we'll be okay."

Wrexham would face Swansea City in the last ever game at The Vetch should they reach the final as Swansea defeated TNS 4-2 on penalties following a 1-1 draw at Llansantffraid.
