Cardiff City manager Dave Jones last night paid tribute to Jason Koumas after the Welsh midfielder's superb free-kick sealed a somewhat scrappy Carling Cup win over Macclesfield at Ninian Park.

Singing Koumas' praises, Jones said: "The lad has everything you need at the highest level.

"He fell off the ladder for whatever reason, but he's starting to rebuild and not many people in the Premiership could score a goal like that.

"I'm pleased for him, his girlfriend, and his son who was born this week."

Koumas came on as a second half substitute in the game last night and after scoring another great goal will be hoping for a place in the starting XI at Millwall on Saturday.
