"I was encouraged by the call-up to the senior side, a few of the lads will be joining John Toshack's squad for the weekend game and hearing that was a real boost for us all.
"It is something I have been wanting for a long time and now I have the chance, I don't intend to waste it. Scoring a couple of goals was an extra boost for me."
Speaking on the performance of the U21's he said
"We had to win this one, we needed to be playing competitive games next season.
"We couldn't have wished for a better start, an early goal and a hat-trick by Craig before the break, that was a tremendous position to be in.
"The gaffer told us even then that it wasn't over, but we kept going and very soon they were arguing amongst themselves. Then it was over."
