Bale on Wales bench

Last updated : 06 September 2013

Bale joined up with Wales on Monday after becoming the world's most expensive player with the completion of his move to Real Madrid, but manager Chris Coleman did not risk him from the start due to the winger not having played any football since July.

Elsewhere, Sam Ricketts won his 50th cap as he partnered skipper Ashley Williams in defence, while David Vaughan came in for the injured Joe Allen in midfield along with in-form Aaron Ramsey.
