Celtic striker today scored his ninth goal in twelve games for the SPL league leaders over Old Firm rivals Rangers at Ibrox as Martin O’Neill’s side extended their lead to five points.
Bellamy’s celebrations for making ammends for his poor debut display against Rangers were short lived as a hamstring injury suffered in the opening minutes of the second half ended the Welshman’s game, with Celtic comfortably leading 2-0.
With ten minutes to go until half-time Alan Thompson sent a searching ball into the left channel for Bellamy to chase on to, before cutting inside Kyrgiakos and curling a splendid right-foot shot just inside the post.
Bellamy was then promptly booked, deemed for over-celebrating by the referee, as he sunk to his knees to celebrate, Celtic’s second goal scorer booked for “over-celebrating” following Petrov’s card earlier in the game as he celebrated in front of the Rangers fans.
With Bellamy on the sidelines for the rest of the game, his winning goal was enough, as Celtic held out to record victory despite a late comeback with a goal in the closing minutes.
