Croke Park home sell out

The Republic of Ireland's upcoming European Championship qualifiers at Croke Park are a sell-out, the Football Association of Ireland confirmed today.

There was no doubt GAA headquarters would be full for the Germany game, the FAI also said every seat for home fans for the other three matches had been allocated.

Some 67,000 tickets have been sold ensuring 12,000 fans who had been on waiting lists for seats in Lansdowne Road will be at the matches.

The sell-out was partly secured through the FAI's block booking plan whereby fans had to buy tickets for all four home games rather than just the in-demand games against Wales and Germany.

Plans are also under way to fit bucket seats on Hill 16 for the games against the Germans, Wales, Slovakia and Cyprus.

The FAI said: “This follows a hugely increased demand for the home matches.

“The home supporter capacity of 67,000 is now sold out with all stand and premium seats allocated leaving a limited number of corporate box seats available.”

The FAI said seats would be fitted to Hill 16 in line with UEFA/FIFA regulations for 6,500 fans from Wales and Germany.

Discussions are ongoing with the Slovakian and Cypriot FAs regarding their take-up of seats, the association added.

And depending on take-up by fans from these countries, this may result in a limited number of seats being made available for Irish fans for these two matches only.

Notification of the ticket allocations should be completed by the end of this week, the FAI said.
