England U21 2 - 2 Wales U21. So near, yet so far

The young Dragons were given little chance going into the lions den but those boys walked out as men as they nearly pulled off the biggest upset for years at this level.

It all looked a lost cause when Tom Huddleston struck with a free kick but a moment of sublime genius from Aaron Ramsey pulled Wales level. The Arsenal midfielder's 25 yard half volley left the watching pundits crooning.

Ramsey then went on to set up Simon Church to see Wales take a 2 - 1 lead.

Because of the away goals rule Wales needed a third goal. Even when Sam Vokes was unfortunate to see the ball ricochet off him into the net Wales still needed another goal.

It never came. England were down to 10 men when Huddleston was given a straight red for a foul on Darcy Blake, but despite dominating the last 30 mins Wales could not find the goal needed. Vokes hit the post late on but it's England who progress.

Again Wales fall at the final hurdle. The players did us proud but as fans we've seen heartache against Romania, Russia and now England.

Will we ever see a European or World Cup finals?
