FAW to Move to Cardiff Bay

Welsh football bosses are finally moving into the new era, as well as moving home, estimated to cost around ₤1.5m.

Earlier this week the FAW’s ruling council rubber-stamped proposals to leave their current home, an inadequate listed building on Westgate Street, and like many businesses in Cardiff, move to the ever expanding Cardiff Bay to state-of-the-art facilities at Neptune Court.

If plans go ahead the FAW will be in close to both the Welsh Assembly and the Millennium Centre.

The FAW have been at their Westgate Street base since they decided to quit Wrexham and move their offices down to Cardiff in the mid-1980s.

It is expected that the FAW's current home will be sold for around £500,000 – likely to attract a great deal of interest for its location and price while UEFA will be footing much of the cost for the new building.

The Western Mail reports that plans are also being submitted for a new £1m purpose-built training complex to be built for the future of Welsh football on the outskirts of Cardiff.
