No Doubts Over Styles Say FA

The English FA have no worries about appointing Rob Styles as the man-in-the-middle for the FA Cup Final between Arsenal and Manchester United next month at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium.

Styles has come under fire after awarding Middlesbrough a controversial last minute penalty against Fulham on Tuesday, leading to some to question his ability to handle a tie which could be a volatile affair which could cause some problems, as fixtures already this season and in past years have proved.

An FA spokesman has said: "Rob Styles is a leading referee with a wealth of experience. That is why he's been appointed."

Styles has received criticism from managers long before his decision this week and the penalty awarded to Crystal Palace in their game with Norwich last week and with the world’s football fans and media tuning in to watch this game, Styles will be under careful watch by millions of eyes.

It is common knowledge that meetings between Arsenal and United are more often than not controversial, with tempers flaring, and of course, that alleged “food-throwing” at Old Trafford earlier in the season.
