Rush Wants Peterborough Post

Former Chester boss Ian Rush has said he wants to become the new manager of Peterborough.

Rush wants to succeed Barry Fry, who has retired after the London Road club's relegation to League Two.

"I'm definitely looking to get back into football and if the opportunity to speak to Peterborough came about I would take it," said Rush.

"I enjoyed my short time at Chester and know I can become a decent manager," he added on the Liverpool website.

Rush left Chester in less than perfect circumstances following the sacking of his assistant Mark Aizelwood - after Rush steered Chester City away from the bottom of the table to safety.

The 43-year-old former Wales striker said: "I love football. When I stopped playing I was not sure I could cope with management.

"I've no problems in taking a job in the lower leagues. I learnt plenty in my time at Chester."

Rush add a reasonably successful time in charge of Chester, which saw him win Manager of the Month for League Two early in his management days with the Cheshire club.
