Sanchez has seen his ranks decimated by a succession of injuries, as David Healy, Chris Baird and Jonny Evans join Roy Carroll, Stuart Elliott, Steve Jones and Warren Feeney in being unavailable for selection.
Sean Webb, Dean Shiels and Peter Thompson all win recalls the first time since the US tour last summer, with Burnley striker Kyle Lafferty likely to be named alongside Ivan Sproule in attack.
"The Wales game is important to us as we have to get the 'Team Northern Ireland' ethic back," said Sanchez.
"In a way, the result is irrelevant. It is our only friendly of the year because our other eight games are all qualifiers.
"We have got ourselves into a fantastic position and we have to use this match to give some time to players who have not been on the pitch too much recently."
