Saunders: Bellamy is ready

And Welsh coach Dean Saunders has praised the 28 year old West Ham striker.

"Craig is fine, he is doing everything in training and looks really sharp.

"And because the operation was only last week, he has not lost any of his general fitness. When you have an operation and you are out for a couple of weeks you do start to lose fitness.

"So the benefit from coming back this quickly is that he is ready to go, you couldn't tell he'd just had an operation."

Saunders added: "Craig has shown he wants to be here, he has shown he wants to play for Wales.

"He wants Wales to win, he trains well and works hard. We have that in common, we both want Wales to win and to be part of it.

"He's enthusiastic, he works hard and he is desperate to win. He is as determined as ever and he has improved as a player.

"That is down to working hard in training. Liverpool improved him last season, they improved me when I went there.

"I was a better player when I left, and so is he. They taught me how to play the game and that the team comes first. You are a cog in a wheel and you don't want to be the one that messes things up.

"It was like that with me there, and it is still the same now. Craig benefited from that spell."
