Mike Williams, Simon Church and Sam Vokes scored the goals to put Wales 3 - 0 up before Ian Zammit scored a consolation for the visitors.

"It's important you win your home games - we had so many good things come out of this game," said the coach.

"Certainly in the first half I thought some of our play was excellent, particularly some of our combination play down the right-hand side.

"My only complaint was that we didn't score more, but that's not a bad complaint to have.

"In the second half we weren't as good in terms of our standard of play, but that's what we expect of these players because they're learning and developing.

"I always say to the players you've got to be ready to take your opportunity, and that's what Simon (Church) has done today.

"He wasn't in the starting XI - he was only in because Ched Evans had to pull out because of illness, but he's come in and I thought he played excellently tonight, and he got a goal which he fully deserved."

Wales have played 2 games in this current campaign. The victory over Malta was preceded by a 1 - 0 defeat in France.
