Newcastle United captain Alan Shearer insists his side can reach the FA Cup Final the hard way by beating Manchester United in next month’s semi-final match in
Managed by Graeme Souness, Newcastle have had a good run of form recently culminating in morale boosting wins against both Chelsea and Spurs in the FA Cup and Shearer thinks his team shouldn’t fear anyone.
Shearer told the club’s website, “It’s a tough draw, but we’ve beaten
“I’m not disappointed with the draw, in the FA Cup you have to take what you get.
“I said before the FA Cup kicked off that you are going to have to beat either Manchester United,
“It could be that we have to beat all three of them, so if we do win it then we’ll have certainly done it the hard way.”
Newcastle will be looking to avenge their 1999 Wembley final defeat to Manchester United next month, with the possible prospect of revenge over Arsenal for their 1998 Cup final defeat in the Cardiff final in May, or Shearer with the prospect of winning his first trophy with Newcastle, against the club he won the Premiership with before joining Newcastle in 1996.
