Vieira Against Cardiff Semis

Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira believes the FA Cup final will suffer due to both semi-finals being played at the Millennium Stadium.

Arsenal face Blackburn in the first semi-final on 16 April with Manchester United against Newcastle the next day.

"I believe you lose a bit of the passion," said Vieira.

"It makes the final not so special so I'm not in favour of it. The big pitch may suit our style but I think it's a shame when you play both games there."

With Arsenal out of the Champions League and not likely to catch Chelsea in the Premier League, the FA Cup is Arsenal's last chance to win a trophy, in a competition which has served them well over the years.

"The FA Cup has been a good competition for us through the years. We love the FA Cup and I know the fans do too," added Vieira.

"We are really hoping we can get to the final again because you always remember those days."

The venue for the Semi Finals was earlier questioned by Manchester United supporters groups who were upset about the distance and cost of travelling to Cardiff twice in the space of a month. The FA, however, decided to keep the games at the Millennium Stadium.
