Wales 2 - 0 Liechtenstein

Last updated : 13 October 2008 By Wales Reporter
A desperately low crowd of just 12,500 watched Craig Bellamy's side eventually brush aside the European minnows.

For the third game in a row Wales missed a penalty with Craig Bellamy this time seeing his effort saved.

So after three qualifying games Wales sit in 2nd place, 1 point behind Wednesday's opponents Germany. Any positive result in Mounchengladbach will be huge for the Welsh side.

Back to Saturday. Wales needed to to do a job and they did it. Liechtenstein didn't make it easy but they had no chance of taking anything from the game and Wales went about their business and completed the victory.

For sure the Welsh are going to have to play a lot better when they face Germany, Russia and Finland to have any hopes of qualifying from this group.
