Wales 2 - 2 New Zealand

Things couldn't have gotten off to a worse start with New Zealand 1 up inside the opening minutes. Some poor defending from the home side gifted New Zealand the early goal. Shane Smeltz stabbing the ball home.

Craig Bellamy scored his first after a lay off from Ryan Giggs but 6 mins later New Zealand were in front after some hesitant play from keeper Danny Coyne allowed Smeltz to get his head to a ball that should have previously been cleared.

Bellamy's second was a cracker as he beat his man to blast home with his right foot.

All the goals came in the first half.

Wales applied the pressure in the second half but another goal did not come despite a great header from Steve Evans that went just wide and a Craig Bellamy effort that was cleared off the line.

It's a better result for New Zealand who sit over 50 places below Wales in the FIFA rankings.

Next week Wales face the Czech Republic in Cardiff. They will need to be better than they were today.
