Last updated : 12 October 2006 By Wales Reporter
Wales bounced back from the Slovakian nightmare to earn their first Euro 2008 qualifying points. Right from the first whistle the home side were insistent on quick movement of ball and attack. Bellamy and Earnshaw were always looking to to use their pace to spring the offside trap and the amount of possession and creative attacking deserved a reward.

It came from Jason Koumas, his header from a Simon Davies cross bounced past the keeper and crossed the line despite an effort to keep it out. The linesman had an easy job to confirm it was a goal.

Just prior to that the Cyrpiot keeper made asuperb save to push and Earnie effors onto the post and earlier on Koumas had hit the post as well.

Wales' second came when Bellamy broke free and his cross was inch perfect for Earnshaw to finish into an empty net.

Wales enjoyed less possession in the second half but were still far more likely to score than Cyprus.

The third goal when it came was a superb right footed shot by Craig Bellamy.

Cyprus caused a small flutter when they scored in the 82nd minute. It was a great goal that beat Lewis Price but Wales were comfortable winners in the end even allowing Earnie to miss an open goal in the dying seconds.

The Republic of Ireland, who were thumped 5 - 2 by Cyprus on the weekend, drew 1 - 1 with the Czech Republic in Dublin. In the other match in the group Germany won 4 - 1 in Slovakia.
