Wales U21 0 - 1 Romania U21

To qualify for the play offs for Sweden 2009 Wales need to win the group. They are currently top with one game left, away in Romania on Sep 9th.

The Romanian's are 2nd, one point behind Wales but with a game in hand. They play Bosnia a few days before they face Wales and so could be 2 points ahead meaning the Welsh would have to win. Hopefully Bosnia could do us a favour meaning a draw would be enough for Wales. Either way it's going to be a tough night on Sep 9th.

The Welsh side did everything but score at the Racecourse and then got caught with the sucker punch.

"The boys did enough to win the game and we did not take our chances," said a disappointed Brian Flynn.

"We have proved we can score goals prior to this game... it's a golden opportunity that has passed us by tonight.

"I have got some very talented, disappointed players in the dressing room.

"We have got another chance out in Romania which will be very difficult," Flynn added.

"Romania have only conceded one goal in the competition and are a difficult team to play against and they showed us that respect, and you have to take your chances at this level.

"The positive thing to take from the game is that we have shown Romania that we are capable of beating them.

"I would have worries if we were going to Romania with no chance, but we have."
