We Want a Proper Football Ground

Manchester United fans group IMUSA (Independent Manchester United Supporters Association) has called for the club's FA Cup semi-final clash against Newcastle United to be played at Leeds United's Elland Road ground rather than at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

IMUSA believes the Millennium Stadium is a "crazy place" to play the match and is calling on fans to boycott the game.

A spokesman for IMUSA, said yesterday: "The fans have never been consulted about this yet we are the people who put money into football.

"Nobody wants to turn their back on the team but you've got to say enough is enough.

"I've not come across one United supporter who is happy going to Cardiff. We are getting to the end of our tether - we can't afford it.

"I would urge all United supporters to boycott the game. It is a crazy place to play a semi-final.

"Newcastle fans are going to have to drive past Elland Road, which is 40 miles from us.

"Leeds is ideal for Newcastle and United. We want to go to a proper football ground with a proper atmosphere and have a great game.

"It devalues the final having the semi-finals there. The final should be a big day out - a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The only way to hit the FA is in the pocket."
